Yordan Morejon secured the first medal for Bulgaria at the European Boxing Championships in Belgrade, after reaching the semi-finals in the heaviest category over 92 kg.

In this way, the naturalized Cuban athlete guarantees at least a bronze medal from the championship in the Serbian capital, and in a dispute for a place in the final, he will face the Spaniard Ayoub Gadfra, who has a bronze from the world championship last year.

Otherwise, in a quarter-final match of the competition in Belgrade, Morejon coped without any problems with the representative of Moldova, Danil Okoman. The meeting between them lasted less than one round, in which the Bulgarian national twice sent his opponent to a knockdown, and after the second, the referee in the ring decided that the fight could not continue.

Tomorrow, the Bulgarian participation in the championship of the Old Continent in Serbia continues with Aslahan Mehmedova, who in the women’s category up to 63 kg will play her first match against Diacono Gale from Malta.
