At the ongoing International Badminton Tournament for men and women in Bratislava-Slovakia, Gergana Pavlova, player of “Badminton-Squash Club Pazardzhik” defeated Katerina Mikelova-Czech Republic with 2:0.
In the round of 16, she beat the second seed in the women’s singles scheme, Fadiha Rafi-Uganda, with a 2:0 game, and in the quarterfinals, she lost to the Indian Purva Barve, 2:0.
In doubles, Gergana Pavlova and Tanya Ivanova defeated Janko/Stokwiz-Poland 2:0, in the round of 16 they also defeated the Ukrainians Florova/Lavrova with a 2:0 game.
In the quarter-finals, the girls lost after an extremely contested match to the second seeds in the Young/Hoffmeier-Austria women’s doubles scheme.
Thus, Geri remained one step away from the singles and women’s doubles medals, but she showed a great game and added 920 points to the World Ranking, in both disciplines, which in singles will lead to a jump of 20 places, and in doubles to more than 50-60 places jump in the World Rankings next Tuesday.
