They left a man from Targovishte in custody, who was in possession of drugs for the purpose of distribution

After accepting as well-founded the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office – Targovishte, the District Court in the city determined the most severe measure of remand – “detention in custody” against a 32-year-old defendant for possession of narcotic substances without proper authorization for the purpose of distribution, reports the Appellate Court Prosecutor’s Office in Varna. H.P. is brought to criminal liability for a crime under Article 354a, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

He was detained on April 18, 2024, after a dry grassy mass was found in him during a police check. The field test performed reacted to marijuana, and the initially measured amount was about 70 grams. An examination was appointed, which aims to show the exact amount of marijuana and the percentage content of a narcotic substance in it.

H.P. is well known to law enforcement and prosecutors. He was already convicted of the same crime in 2022 and his current offense was committed while on probation for his previous conviction.

By decree of the prosecutor overseeing the case, the man was detained for a period of up to 72 hours with a view to bringing him before the court to determine a measure of remand. The decision of the District Court in Targovishte, according to which M.K. and D.G. remains in custody, subject to appeal before the Court of Appeal – Varna.
