On April 22, Monday, at 7:00 p.m. on the stage of the State Opera – Burgas, the ballet classic “Bayaderka” to the music of Ludwig Minkus will present an original and exciting reading of the dramatic love story – staged and directed by Vesa Tonova, the long-time prima ballerina of the Sofia Opera and ballet, ballet director and teacher.

The scenography is by the world-famous artist Ivan Tokadzhiev, and the costumes are the work of one of the best costume designers – Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova. Assistant ballet master is Galina Kalcheva, who is a tutor of the ballet troupe at the Burgas Opera, assistant director – Petar Tiholov. In the sumptuous ballet production, which dazzles with attractive scenography, emotional director’s reading and sensational choreographic decisions, all the artists will tell a sad story about the emotional dilemma between the call of the heart and the long and all-conquering power of love, which is stronger even than inexorability at the end of the earth. Drama, tearing jealousy, fateful tragic love – under the sign of the blessing of the gods, who connect souls doomed to each other even in death – diverse and strong feelings and emotions will be conveyed through the means of ballet art on April 22 in the hall of the Burgas Opera House .

Daniela Turtumanova-Stoyanova, who recently became the prima ballerina of the State Opera – Burgas and has in her repertoire leading roles in: “Swan Lake” /Odette/Odilia/, “The Nutcracker” /Masha/, makes her debut in the role of the dancer Nikia in an Indian temple. “Sleeping Beauty” /Princess Aurora/, “Cinderella”, “Bad Girl” /Lisa/, “Pahita”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, “The Doll Fairy” and others. Daniela Turtumanova-Stoyanova made her brilliant debut as Odette/Odilia in another ballet classic – “Swan Lake”, in November 2023 in the city of Shumen, following an extremely successful national tour with her participation, in partnership with Theodore Tsakov and Daniel Tichkov, with whom he will also dance at the Bayaderka performance on Monday – in Razgrad, Dobrich, Sliven, Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Vratsa, Pernik, Botevgrad.

Premier ballet dancer Daniel Tichkov takes on the role of Solor, whose love Nikia and Gamzati fight for – the role of the daughter of the influential Raja will be performed by Jana Berduta, a soloist of the ballet ensemble. The two ballet dancers were a wonderful tandem in the main roles in “The Nutcracker” – in December 2023, both on the stage of the Burgas Opera and on tour with the ballet troupe in Haskovo.

In the images of the Golden God and Magadaveya, the soloist of the ballet troupe Teodor Tsakov enters, Francesco Russo will be the Great Brahmin, Maid of Gamzati – Sofia Lovdzhieva, Dugmanta Raja – Branimir Nedkov. A trio of shadows will be: Nanako Sato, Natalie Ivanova and Ilina Konstantinova /Laia Ramon/. Natali Ivanova, Kircho Zhelyazkov and Teodor Tsakov will perform in the attractive Hindu dance. Shadows in the emblematic for ballet art scenes from the afterlife in “Bayaderka” will be: Nanako Sato, Ilina Konstantinova, Natalie Ivanova, Ivana Fialkovska, Kalina Nedelcheva, Elena Georgieva, Anelia Ivanova, Maria Gabarova, Alexandrina Arabska, Mina Yalamova, Gergana Georgieva, Gergana Kozarova, Bianka-Helen Giovanelli, Mila Vasileva, Polina Pasha, Laya Ramon.

Bayaderka will present an original and exciting reading of the beautiful love story of the Indian temple dancer Nikia and the warrior Solor. Their love angers the Great Brahmin, who is secretly in love with the beautiful dancer, and Princess Gamzati, who is in love with Solor. Rajata, Gamzati’s father, has promised his daughter Solor as a husband. The vengeful princess hides a snake in a basket of flowers meant for Nikia. During the bayadera dance at a temple celebration, she is fatally bitten by the snake. The Brahmin offers Nikia an antidote in exchange for her love, but she refuses. Dying, she reminds Solor of his oath of eternal fidelity. Solor is devastated by the death of his beloved. Under the influence of opiates, he is transported to the Shadow Realm, where he meets the spirit of Nikia. Back in reality, he can’t shake the memory of the encounter. At Gamzati and Solor’s wedding celebration, before the exchange of fealty vows, the temple is collapsed by an earthquake. Everyone perishes, and the spirits of Nicia and Solor are finally reunited in the afterlife.
The production of the State Opera – Burgas “Bayaderka” was awarded with the “Golden Muse” award for production and direction at the ceremony of the “Association of Choreographers in Bulgaria”, which took place in Hall I of the NDK on the International Ballet Day – April 29, 2019 Mr.

On April 24, the performance of the ballet extravaganza “Bayaderka” will also be presented on the stage of the “Yordan Yovkov” Drama Theater – Dobrich. Daniela Plamenova Turtumanova-Stoyanova was born on August 16, 1995 in Sofia. Graduate of the Sofia National School of Dance Art. He completed his higher education at the “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” National Academy of Music – Sofia – with bachelor’s and master’s degrees, majoring in “Ballet Pedagogy”. He made his debut in the main role in the ballet “The Nutcracker” back in 2014, when he was 18 years old and had been working at the Burgas State Opera for only 2 months. Over the years, he played a number of other main roles in the ballets: “Sleeping Beauty”, “Cinderella”, “The Doll Fairy”, “From Camp to Heaven”, Fairytale Seasons, “Little Red Riding Hood”, “The Badly Protected Girl”, Bird Trap ” and other. He is the head of “Ballet School for Princesses” – Burgas.
He is the winner of many awards as a performer and educator. In November 2023, Daniela Turtumanova made her brilliant debut in the roles of Odette/Odilia in the ballet “Swan Lake” by P. I. Tchaikovsky. Prima ballerina of the ballet at the State Opera – Burgas from April 2024.

Daniel Tichkov, premier ballet dancer – in the role of Solor:
Studied at “National School of Dance Art – Sofia” 2004-2013. Student at “Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Art – Plovdiv” (AMTII). Toured in South Korea, Italy, Oman, Tunisia, Holland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia. Participations and awards: Second prize in the junior age at the 15th National Meeting of Young Ballet Performers “Anastas Petrov” – Dobrich 2012. International Competition “Roses of Kazakhstan” 2019, Astana, Kazakhstan – 1st place – classical dance. Participation in the programs of the “Dance Art – Iliev” Foundation and a scholarship holder in 2012. The scholarship includes summer intensive dance courses at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School – Seattle. Participation in the performances at the “Nikolay Binev” Youth Theater – Sofia with the musical “Oliver Twist” from 2008 to 2012. Participation in the productions of the State Opera – Ruse, State Opera – Burgas, State Opera – Plovdiv, State Opera – Stara Zagora with the ballet performances: “Don Quixote”, “Swan Lake”, “Giselle”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “The Nutcracker”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Bayadere”.
Yana Berduta – in the role of Gamzati
Yana Berduta was born in Ukraine, the city of Kharkiv. In 2016, she graduated from the “Kharkos Higher College of Arts” with a major in classical ballet and pedagogy with teacher N. V. Silvestrova. Since 2016, she has been touring with Ukrainian, Russian and European troupes with the performances “The Nutcracker”, where she performs the role of Masha, and also in the performances “Swan Lake” and “Sleeping Beauty”. Takes first place in the Ukrainian ballet competition “Charivna Yalta”. Since 2017, he has been working at the State Opera – Burgas. Performed solo and ensemble roles in the performances “Sleeping Beauty”, where she debuted as Lilac Fairy and Princess Florina, “Swan Lake”, “Bayadere” – with a debut in the role of Gamzati, “The Nutcracker” – Masha, “Romeo and Juliet”, ” Don Quixote” and others.

Teodor Tsakov – in the role of the Golden God and Magadaveya

Teodor Tsakov was born in Sofia in 1992. In 2011, she graduated from the National School of Dance Art – Sofia, majoring in classical dance under teacher Petar Koldamov. 2008 received a scholarship from the “Peter Iliev” dance workshop and studied in Chicago with Daniel Duel and Patricia Blair. In 2010, he finished in third place at the Anastas Petrov National Ballet Competition in Dobrich. Toured as part of the ensemble and soloist with Bulgarian, French and Ukrainian troupes in Europe, Asia and America with the performances “Swan Lake”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “The Nutcracker”, “Don Quixote” and others. From 2014 to 2015, he worked at the State Opera in Ruse. He debuted as a soloist in the performances “Sleeping Beauty”, “The Nutcracker” and “Swan Lake”. He made his debut there as a choreographer with the performance “Stranger Squad” In parallel with his work in the city of Ruse, he performed soloist roles for the State Opera – Plovdiv. From 2015 to 2016, he went to Ukraine, where he worked at the Kharkiv National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after N. V. Lysenko, participating in the entire repertoire of the theater. At the end of 2016, he started working at the State Opera – Burgas, while simultaneously studying and obtaining a bachelor’s degree with a specialty in pedagogy at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in the city of Plovdiv.
