Another success for the Professional High School of Fashion Design in Veliko Tarnovo
The graduates of the teacher Tsvetelina Tutovska returned from Varna with two prestigious awards from the most prestigious student competition in this field, “Young Talents in Fashion”.
Julia Yordanova from the 11th grade, Petromira Popova from the 9th grade and Diyana Stanimirova from the 8th grade managed to win first place for overall performance in the competition from the Rositsa Ivanova National Association of Fashion Schools and second place in the category ” Fashion show”.
The high school’s impressive performance at the competition in Varna comes on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the PG in Fashion Design, which will be celebrated on April 26.
About her model, Petromira Popova said that the goal was to show the public the future of recycling materials, giving them a second life.
“Thus, the growing need for the ever-increasing ‘circular fashion’ trend has placed new challenges in our thinking as creatives. This would be a successful business model that would save the world from pollution from the textile industry,” Ms. Tutovska also shared.
Through the re-use of textiles and non-standard manipulations of different materials, the PG fashion design team created an absolutely new non-woven textile that “paints” the sea like a panel of a picture, recreating depth and reflection.
“The garment was meant to be multi-functional and practical, with an urban flair, so we opted for a gimmick where the hood transforms into a jacket in a modern, bomber style cut, and the boots attached to the dress successfully transform into a sports bag.”
“We thank the jury for evaluating our model on merit, giving us first and second prize in such a prestigious competition, rich in such young talents,” the participants explained.
