Atanas Velkov was born on June 18, 1964 in Burgas. He received his first lessons in drawing, painting and sculpture from Teresa Shchurovska, Raina Racheva, Kaloyan Kaloyanov and Veselin Yovchev in Burgas. From 1978 to 1983, he studied at the Art High School in Kazanlak. From 1988 to 1994 he was at the National Academy of Arts (NAA). He specialized in Milan-Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, under Prof. Diego Esposito. There are 19 solo exhibitions. His paintings are owned by private collections and galleries in Bulgaria and other countries. For him, the experiment is a constant search for possibilities.
