At the end of April, employers in the tourism sector continue to look for workers. The Labor Bureau in Dobrich has announced vacancies for dozens of personnel in the hotel and restaurant industry.

We are currently looking for 140 waiters and bartenders, 86 cooks, assistant cooks and kitchen workers, 50 dishwashers, over 100 maids, 60 administrators, 12 lifeguards, 29 piccolo positions, etc.

Staffing continues to be the most pressing problem of the tourism sector. The question was put to the Acting Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev in his meetings with the branch organizations, which he held as minister in the first week in office, the ministry informed. It is about easing the procedure for hiring workers from third countries to support the tourism industry.

At the first parliamentary control, the minister called on the Bulgarian parliament to take urgent action and voted to change the Law on Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria. If the change is accepted, it will extend the stay of seasonal workers in Bulgaria from third countries – from 90 to 180 days within 12 months of initial registration, without them having to leave the territory of the country to apply for a visa extension .

With the changes, approved foreigners from countries outside the European Union, in whose face the tourism industry sees a possible solution to the serious problem of lack of personnel for the summer season, will remain with the same employer or change it for the duration of their new employment contract.

“At the moment, there is an expectation from labor markets such as Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, India,” the minister told BNT.
