The “Stars of the Opera” platform of Opera Plovdiv presents the star mezzo-soprano Svetlina Stoyanova in “THE BARBER OF SEVILLE” – Rossini on APRIL 25, from 19:00 at the House of Culture.

The world-famous opera prima Svetlina Stoyanova is returning to Bulgaria to participate in the production of Opera Plovdiv – “The Barber of Seville” by Rossini. The young mezzo-soprano with a rapid international career has planned engagements for years to come in some of the most renowned opera houses such as La Scala – Milan, the Vienna State Opera, the Hamburg Opera, the Zurich Opera, the Munich Opera, the Latvian Opera and many others.

In 2016, Svetlina Stoyanova was the highest ranked singer in Le Grand Prix de l’Opera. Subsequently, she was invited to record with the Symphony Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio, and in 2017 she was awarded first prize in the International Singing Competition “Neue Stimmen”.

Svetlina Stoyanova joins the Vienna State Opera as a soloist for the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons. There she made her debut as a Dryad (“Ariadne auf Naxos”), then performed the roles of Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Roßweiße (Die Walküre), Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana) and others. He also appeared in guest performances at the Vienna State Opera as Cherubino at the Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg and as Zerlina (“Don Juan”) at the Tonhalle, Düsseldorf.

Svetlina Stoyanova debuted in the role of Isabella (“Italiana in Algiers”) in France with the Matheus Ensemble, conducted by Maestro Jean-Christophe Spinosi, and in 2020 – in the role of Angelina (“La Cenerentola”) at the “New Generation” festival ” in Florence, Italy. Since then he has made his debut in a series of major opera houses and festivals such as the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow and the Zurich Opera House. She is particularly associated with the Teatro Alla Scala in Milan, where she performed roles such as Rosina (“Barbiere di Siviglia”), Cherubino (“Nozze di Figaro”), Zulma (“Italiana in Algeri”) and Dryad (“Ariadne auf Naxos”). . Following her highly successful debut at the Glyndebourne Festival as Ruggiero (“Alcina”), a series of signature performances are planned for this season, including: Angelina (“Cenerentola”) at the Latvian National Opera, Cherubino (“Nozze di Figaro”) at the Staatsoper Hamburg, Beppe (“L’amico Fritz”) at The Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Stefano (“Roméo et Juliette”) at the Zurich Opera.

She was honored in the “30 under 30” ranking of “Forbes” Bulgaria for 2019, and in 2020 she received the prestigious “Certificate for contribution to the promotion of Bulgarian culture around the world” from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria. Her awards also include the 2019 Daniel Froschauer Award and the Silver Medal (Musician’s Company Award).
