Yesterday, the police in Vratsa announced that behind the wheel of the vehicle was a 31-year-old man from Beli Izvor, who was charged with speeding.

However, Petya Petrova, who is the owner of the crashed car, revealed another version of what happened. She sent footage from her home’s CCTV cameras. The footage shows that less than a minute before the impact, a group of children was walking down the street. Only seconds separated the incident from the possibility of much more serious consequences.
It is clear from the video that the car was not traveling at a very high speed when it crashed into the Bavarian. The owner was awakened by the impact and immediately went out to check what was happening. According to her, the driver got out of the car in a visibly inadequate condition.
Petya called the police and the cops tested the driver – 31-year-old Vasil from Beli Izvor – for alcohol and drugs. Another young man traveled with him – Teodosi from Vlasatitsa. The coroner reported a negative result for the use of narcotic substances.
However, according to Petya, in the car the uniformed officers found a bag containing traces of tea for smoking. The two young men in the car tried to throw him out, but the cops saw them. However, they refused to administer a blood test to the driver and wrote excessive speed as the cause of the accident.
However, the injured owner is adamant that the driver was drunk.
“It’s not right for someone to think they can drive drugged and get away with it.” What if he had hit the kids instead of my car?” asks the young woman.
She also shared that the damage described as BGN 200 to her car was actually much more. The car is scratched, with a broken fender, door sill, etc. An insurance company will do an inspection yet, but the estimates are that the repair will be around BGN 1,000.
