Holiday weekends in Burgas hide many surprises and entertainment. On May 1 (Wednesday), Holy Wednesday, St. Anastasia Island welcomes all guests to the opening of an icon exhibition. It will take place a few days before the biggest Christian holiday – Easter.

The authors of the exhibition are Todor Vachev and Janeta Ruseva from Burgas. It will be arranged in the vestibule of the island church. The event is also on the occasion of the ten-year anniversary of the landscaped island of St. Anastasia and will be available for viewing until the end of the summer season.

Toshko Vachev is the only citizen of Burgaz who was born in one of the symbols of the city – the “Tower of the Faropazacha”. It was the central entrance of Burgas port, built way back in 1903. The creative path of the icon painter began exactly 28 years ago. Toshko Vachev creates continuously and has painted over 1000 icons, some of them donated to various causes. His works are also found abroad – in Spain, Portugal, America, etc.

Janeta Ruseva graduated from the School of Batik, and from 2012 to 2015 studied “Icon Painting and Mural Painting” at the School of Byzantine Icon Painting and Mural Painting, Athens, Greece. He is a member of UNESCO – Athens for Art and Culture, a member of the Bulgarian Iconographic Association, a member of the Society of Burgas Artists.
