Marin Dobrev, who stabbed and killed a man in the city park in Dobrich on March 7, is sane, District Prosecutor Radoslav Buchchev announced. The conclusion of the assigned forensic psychological and psychiatric expertise is that at the time of committing the crime, Marin was able to understand the nature and meaning of what was done and to direct his actions and may bear criminal responsibility.

DNA and video technical expertise have been appointed and are about to be added to the case.

The murder case is being conducted in the District Prosecutor’s Office, two other pre-trial proceedings for Marin Dobrev’s attacks on other citizens are being monitored by the District Prosecutor’s Office. According to Bukhchev, the cases will be united and will be conducted together. “For the assaults, forensic psychological and psychiatric expertise will probably also be appointed, because these are separate acts committed at different times, and for each of them the expertise must decide whether the person understood the meaning of what was done and whether he was able to direct his actions” , the District Attorney pointed out.

The murderer has been arrested, is in custody, his probation measure has not been changed, added Buchchev. Once the exact qualification of the crime is made, it will become clear what punishment awaits Marin – imprisonment for 15-20 years, life imprisonment or life without parole.
