The best craftsmen of the 16th edition of the “Feast of cabbage and sweet delights” in the village of Zhabokrut were awarded.

For the 16th year in a row, the village of Zhabokrut brought together zelnik masters, folk performers and hundreds of lovers of delicious delights. The organizer of the “Feast of Cabbage and Sweet Temptations” is People’s Community Center “Saglasie 2007” village of Zhabokrut“.

The Mayor of Kyustendil Municipality, Eng. Ognyan Atanasov, congratulated the chairwoman of the parish, Milena Stoimenova, for the diligence and love with which she keeps the traditions alive and shows the mastery of the women who prepared the culinary magic of the region – the delicious cabbage.

The vegetable garden will take its rightful place in the development of culinary tourism in the region, the mayor of Kyustendil was categorical. Because this is not just food, but a ritual and a lesson in craftsmanship and hospitality, typical of the Kyustendil region.

In the vegetable garden, the love, care and patience of the women who dedicated hours to kneading and grinding exquisitely thin skins, then drying and filling them into a beautiful and tasty temptation are involved.

A competent jury evaluated twenty cabbages in four categories: appearance, taste qualities, thinnest skin and method of arrangement, consistency and quality of the filling.

First place was won by the cabbage prepared by Vladislava Ivanova. Second place went to Stanka Sokolcheva’s vegetable garden, and third place went to the culinary temptation of Valentina Vaseva.

In the “Banitsi” category, the community center “Iljo Voivoda 1928” was ranked first, the community center “Probuda” – Kopilovtsi village took second place, and the community center “Spasovitsa” from the village of Nikolichevtsi took third place.

In the “Breads and cakes” category, the first place goes to “Probuda” community center – Kopilovtsi village. The second place was won by Temenuzka Stoikova, and the third by Koprinka Stoimenova.

The jury also awarded prizes in the “Sweet Delights” category. The first place was taken by Maria Vaseva. Second is Ventsislav Ivanov, and third place is for Stefania Manakova.

The host of the event was Ivo Tanev, a guest performers were the “Nightingale” Quartet, the self-acting ensembles of the community center and other guest groups.
