Eight drivers were taken into police custody over the weekend during traffic control. Five of the offenders were detected in Plovdiv, and the remaining three in nearby towns.

A dead drunk driver was caught by traffic policemen on Knyaginya Maria Luiza Blvd. in the regional city. When tested with a drager, a result above 3 ppm was reported. The man refused to be tested for the use of narcotic substances and also to give blood for chemical analysis. With a police warrant, he was detained for one day within the framework of the fast-track proceedings.

Five other men were also caught sitting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol above the legal limit. They were established on “Vasil Aprilov” Blvd., “Saint Petersburg” Blvd., “Skopje” St. and in the “Stolipinovo” district, as well as in the village of Boyantsi.

Meanwhile, in Manolsko Konare, uniformed officers detected an unlicensed driver of an electric scooter, whose alcohol sample read more than 2.5 per thousand. A driver of a car was also checked by the law enforcement officers in Peruštitsa with his driving license revoked after an administrative penalty was imposed.
