“Description of Project 1 – Introduction of regularly scheduled train service (S-bahn type) in the suburban areas of Sofia, Plovdiv and other cities by purchasing single- and double-decker interoperable electric motor trains with a maximum speed of 160 km/h, equipped with ERTMS . “In order to improve the rail transport service of Bulgaria’s largest cities – among them Sofia and Plovdiv, it is planned to organize the movement of regular suburban trains (S-bahn type) in their suburban areas,” Vassilev said.
Stage 184 and 186: “42 EMUs for suburban passenger services with a maximum speed of 160 km/h equipped with ERTMS on-board equipment — 7 double-deck EMUs with a minimum seating capacity of 300 seats and 35 single-deck EMUs with a minimum seating capacity of 200′.
