The psychiatric examination of the accused for the murder in the park in Dobrich is ready

The results of the forensic psychiatric examination appointed by the District Prosecutor’s Office – Dobrich of a 31-year-old man detained in connection with an investigation into the murder of a man who died after being stabbed in a park in the city are clear. The 31-year-old Marin Dobrev is sane and may bear criminal responsibility, this is the conclusion of the specialists, the prosecutor’s office announced.

The serious criminal act was committed on March 7, 2024. The homicide victim is a 56-year-old local resident who was fatally stabbed. In the course of the actions taken immediately to clarify the situation, it becomes clear that Marin Dobrev is complicit in the crime. He was detained initially for 72 hours, and subsequently, at the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office, the District Court – Dobrich set a measure of remand “detention in custody” for the 31-year-old man.

Due to the availability of data that he suffers from a mental illness, a forensic psychiatric examination was ordered. The research is ready and the experts’ conclusions are that at the time of the murder, Marin Dobrev was able to understand the nature and significance of what was done and to direct his actions, he could bear criminal responsibility for them.

Work on the case continues. DNA and video technical examinations have also been appointed in connection with the investigation. Their preparation and their conclusions are awaited in view of the continued work on the case.
