In his reasons for this decision, Pandezov points out that Pazardzhik Municipality is in a bad financial condition and councilors’ salaries are a serious burden on the budget. At the moment, the local deputies are signing up for the monthly amount of BGN 1,984.50, Pandezov’s proposal is to make it BGN 882. The councilors’ salaries were increased after a proposal was made by businessman Blago Solov to increase the mayor’s salary at the January session. salary.

According to the current regulation, this automatically raised the monthly remuneration of both the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the councillors. Even then, some of the municipal councilors said that they were not in the Plenary Hall because of the money, but at the next session, no adjustment was made to both the councilors’ and the chairman’s salary, and the people’s elected representatives quietly collected the amount allocated from the municipal treasury. If Pandezov’s proposal is accepted, from next month they will receive a remuneration for their work lower than the minimum wage in the country.
