Students, doctoral students and professors from the University of Nis visited VTU

For another year, students, doctoral students and professors from the University of Nis visited VTU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”

Their visit began with a working meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Philology Assoc. Dr. Polina Tsoncheva and with the collegium from the Department of Slavic Studies.

After the meeting, the 20th consecutive scientific conference on “Borders in the culture of Bulgarians and Serbs” was opened.

The vice-rector for academic activities and professor at FF Prof. Dr. Hristo Bonjolov welcomed the guests and greeted them on behalf of the rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and personally on his own behalf with the warm “Welcome again to Veliko Tarnovo and the University of Veliko Tarnovo , colleagues and friends from Nis!”.

Prof. Dr. Tsenka Ivanova delivered an interesting report during the conference on the topic “On the Bulgarian-Serbian language borders and mutual understanding”.

The host exchange visits started in 2002 and are one of the most sustainable partnerships between the two universities, which have a cooperation agreement since 1987 and maintain the Bulgarian and Serbian language lectures under the interstate agreement on scientific, educational and cultural exchange. For more than twenty years, several hundred students who have studied Bulgarian language in Niš and Serbian language in VTU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” participated in this partnership program. Dozens of professors have participated in the thematic conferences, and the two faculties also take turns in publishing the collections of reports. This year’s program is implemented through the university project “International Academic Networks – Traditions and Innovations”. The titles of the nineteen volumes published reflect the original intent of this partnership and are known in a number of humanities libraries abroad.
