The Mathematical High School in Haskovo celebrates the 117th anniversary of the birth of its patron Academician Boyan Petkanchin

Today is the 117th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Bulgarian mathematician Boyan Petkanchin, whose name it bears.

The guest of the patron saint of the school was the mayor of the municipality of Haskovo, Stanislav Dechev, who is also among the graduates of the high school. The director of the school, Gergana Petrova, who also graduated from the High School of Science and Mathematics in Haskovo, congratulated the students for their hard work over the past year and pointed out dozens of high achievements at national and international contests, Olympiads and competitions.

The mathematics high school is a school for successful leaders, 96% of those who graduated here continue their education in Bulgaria and abroad, the mayor emphasized in his address.

To the younger students who are just starting their studies, Stanislav Dechev sent a message: “Remember that every next year it becomes more and more difficult in class. But at the expense of that – more and more fun in the breaks. Trust me, I know from experience.” To the older ones, who have already chosen where to continue their studies, he addressed: “Please, wherever you go, remember that you are responsible to this high school, which gave you knowledge, self-confidence and a chance to fulfill My dreams. And if possible, make it so that you live these dreams in Haskovo”

Meanwhile, the High School also boasted about new achievements of its graduates. Nikola Manolov is the silver medal winner of the International Informatics Tournament IATI 2024, which was held in Shumen. From the Spring competition in informatics, he has a bronze distinction. Dimitar Shapatov, Tihomir Ivanov and Martin Nedev, graduates of the head of the School of Informatics at PMG Kolya Petrova, were awarded certificates for excellent performance.

The graduate of teacher Vanya Gocheva, Petar Velev, is the only one from the Haskovo region who reached the national round of the Linguistics Olympiad.
