Bulgaria finished in second place in the team standings in the debut edition of the European Judo Cup for juniors and juniors in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The team won 4 gold medals, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals.

First is the team of Serbia with 5 titles, 5 silver and 8 bronze medals. Third are the hosts with an asset of 3-5-12.

234 competitors from 13 countries took part in the competition. Bulgaria was represented by the capital teams Respect, CSKA, CSKA-Sofia, Champion, Kodokan (Pazardzhik), Haskovo.

There were two Bulgarian finals in the tournament. Ivan Nikolchev prevailed over Denislav Medarov in the 60-kilogram category, and Elena Mihailova defeated Dara Grueva in the 44-kilogram category.

First came Sofia Mavrova (40 kg), as well as Mahmud Zhaafar (55 kg), who took part in the demonstrations during the technical seminar led by representatives of the International Judo Federation.

Silver went to Maria Markova (52 kg), Hristo Shulekov (42 kg), and bronze to Kostadina Petrushinova (57 kg), Radoslav Yotov (42 kg), Kostadin Petrushinov (57 kg), and Vladimir Todorov (55 kg).
