Five years of imprisonment was ordered by the court in Kyustendil for the accused for causing the death of three people after a traffic accident, the court in Kyustendil announced. The court deducts the time during which the defendant was placed under house arrest from February 2, 2023 until the sentence is executed.
The court found the defendant, 62 years old, guilty of having violated the traffic rules by overtaking on October 2, 2022 on a second-class road between the villages of Nov Chiflik and Bagrentsi, as a result of which he recklessly caused the death of three people and bodily injury to two others.
The convicted must also pay the costs incurred in the case, nearly 8 thousand BGN. The verdict can be protested or appealed before the Sofia Court of Appeal within 15 days.
