The Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water in Smolyan with over 200 children and youth from Smolyan and Chepelare celebrated Earth Day – April 22 under the motto: “Planets against plastic”.

Experts from the inspection visited the Professional High School of Agriculture and Forestry “Nikola Vaptsarov” – town of Chepelare, where graduates of the school presented reports on “Forest management in conditions of climate change”, “Afforestation and climate change” and “Rhodope silivryak” , as well as a photo exhibition of rare and protected plant and animal species in the Rhodopes, made within the framework of the “Youth for the Environment” project of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The little nature lovers from the “Rodopchanche” Kindergarten in Smolyan participated in a children’s holiday with games dedicated to the protection of the planet and the separate collection of waste, and the graduates of the “Stoyu Shishkov” elementary school in the city of Smolyan made a model of the Planet from plastic caps.

As the finale of this year’s campaign dedicated to Earth Day, on April 27, the collected in plastic caps will be handed over to the charity cause that the citizens of Smolyan support for another year. More than 1 billion people in 192 countries participate in Earth Day activities, making it the largest celebration in the world.
