A memorial plaque to Dr. Ivelin Tonchev will be consecrated and opened on April 25, Thursday, at 11:30 a.m. in the village of Smolnitsa. The day was specially chosen – it is the birthday of the beloved and respected physician, who was remembered in October 2022, six months before he turned 60 years old.
The proposal to make and place the memorial plaque was made during the pre-election meetings of the mayor of Dobrichka Municipality, Sonia Georgieva, with the residents of the village of Smolnitsa, where Dr. Tonchev was a general practitioner for 22 years.
Apart from Smolnitsa, he had patients from the neighboring villages of Lovchantsi, Kozloduytsi, Zlatia, Samuilovo, Polkovnik Ivanovo, Miladinovtsi, Malka Smolnitsa, Dyankovo, and their total number exceeded 2,000 people. They say that he was a doctor by profession, always available, with a big heart and a good soul, ready at any moment to respond to the needs of his patients.
Dr. Ivelin Tonchev is from the village of Preselentsi, General Toshevo Municipality. He studied medicine in Varna, acquiring two specialties – General Medicine and Surgery. It was originally distributed in the Shumen village of Sini Vir. In 1994, he moved with his family to Dobrich. For several years, he was a ship’s doctor at the Transport HEI, and his voyages on different ships lasted 6-7 months, recalls his wife Sasha Toncheva, who is currently a primary school teacher in the village of Smolnitsa.
In 2000, Dr. Tonchev took over the health service in the village and worked there until his sudden death on 17.10.2022.
The memorial plaque of Dr. Ivelin Tonchev will be placed at the entrance of the town hall in the village of Smolnitsa, where the doctor’s office used to be. The production is the work of a good company.
The Mayor of Dobrichka Municipality, Sonia Georgieva, will welcome the residents of Smolnitsa and the neighboring villages, who are also former patients of the doctor.
