A Turkish citizen wanted in Romania for a fake trademark was detained by the District Court in Haskovo, the Court announced.

A.G. (34 years old) was detained on April 19 at the “Captain Andreevo” border checkpoint. He has been declared an international wanted man by the Romanian authorities based on a European Arrest Warrant issued by the court in the city of Giurgiu.

He was wanted on three counts of putting into circulation a product bearing an identical or similar mark to a registered trademark, for which he was sentenced to one year and one month of “Imprisonment”.

According to the court, there is a real danger that A.G. will abscond, and the reasons for this are contained in the nature and gravity of the incriminated crime, and the amount of the foreseen punishment. He is a foreign citizen, he has not only a permanent address in the country, but also any data on his connection with the Republic of Bulgaria. The measure should guarantee the appearance before the magistrates of the AG in the main extradition case. The decision is subject to appeal and protest before the Court of Appeal – Plovdiv.
