Bulgaria is small, but we don’t have just one bright track, tracks are huge tracks in space, said today Assoc. Veselka Radeva, head of the Planetarium at the Higher Naval School (VVMU) in Varna, who was a guest at the presentation of the new issue of the magazine LIK “The Bulgarian Trace in Space”.

She emphasized that undoubtedly the greatest achievement for any country is to have an astronaut, and our country has two who have seen the planet from above and a third who was prepared to take off. In addition, Bulgaria has many other achievements, added Radeva and gave the example of the Institute for Space Research and Technology at the BAS, where every day is an achievement, because its work is related to the mastery of space in all its aspects. Achievements are also what all pupils, students, and scientific workers do, the expert also said and emphasized that all efforts are worth being appreciated because they are at the world level.

Touching the Moon and Mars is the future, and Bulgarians can and should participate in it, Radeva also commented. According to her, this is exactly what the children and students are preparing for – to work on various projects and topics on how to get to the moon, how to learn to live there, even before we take off. She shared that at the Planetarium, she usually tells young people that she will introduce them to their future workplace while showing them the image of our satellite.

Radeva also shared that currently the students of the Space Society of VVMU are completing a project under the NASA program for computer simulation of federated bases on the far side of the Moon. In addition, they also do simulations of real missions that are yet to be realized. Many countries, including Bulgaria, will reach the lunar surface in the coming years, Radeva pointed out and added that the Earth’s satellite and Mars are very important for the future of humanity.
