Graduates of a trade school paraded in costumes made of waste materials for Earth Day. To celebrate the initiative, the management and the pedagogical team of the First Primary School “Hristo Botev” attracted students from all classes, parents are also involved, the deputy director of educational activities Vanya Kancheva told BTA.
Every year the school celebrates Earth Day with initiatives in individual classes. The difference now is that a celebration was held in the courtyard of the school, in which everyone participated en masse.
A poster was put up – the longest drawing, on which the students wrote their messages about the protection of the environment. The first-graders already last week, together with their teachers, planted flowers that are already decorating the railings of the school. Second-graders organize an exhibition of crafts made from waste materials. In this initiative, we have 13 exhibits, Sevinch Mehmedova, a full-time teacher of 2 in a class, told BTA. She added that eight other children from the class are participating in the attractive fashion show – a review of costumes made from waste and eco materials. Third graders decorated their umbrellas with messages and arranged them in an art installation in the school lobby.
The older students of the 5th and 7th grades, included in a full-day form of education, will clean the Eastern Park and put up birdhouses, added Kancheva.
To make the celebration real, the students recited poems and sang themed songs. At the end time was set aside for dancing and general merriment.
In 2024, the initiative of the International Earth Day is celebrated under the motto: “Planet against plastic”.
