New meeting of the epizootic commission in connection with the “Bird flu” disease

The regional governor of the Sliven region Eng. Marincho Hristov called today a new meeting of the Regional Epizootic Commission in connection with the increased risk of bird flu for 14 regions of the country, namely: Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Lovech, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Silistra, Dobrich, Varna, Burgas, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and Haskovo.

The meeting, chaired by Eng. Sliven, Nova Zagora Municipality and Kotel Municipality.

During the meeting, the attendees were introduced to the action plan to prevent the spread of the Influenza disease, the so-called “Bird flu” in birds.

With the order of the regional governor, in accordance with the provision issued by the executive director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) and the need for increased epizootic preparedness, in the territory of the Sliven region, measures were identified for immediate technical readiness, including conducting inspections in all poultry farms and hatcheries on the territory of the district. Raising awareness of outbreaks, distribution of informational materials in populated areas.

Pursuant to the issued order, it is mandatory to carry out cleaning and disinfection of the premises where birds are kept, as well as the means of transport with which they are transported. In this regard, it is necessary to submit to the Sliven ODBH a certified route plan with approximate schedules for the movement of birds from the site and, in the event of a change, to update it in a timely manner.

The control of compliance with the ban on holding markets for live birds is being strengthened. It is also prohibited to keep all types and categories of birds outdoors.
