I have always been interested in space, said Savina Ilieva from Ruse

I have always been interested in space and what surrounds us as a planet, said Savina Ilieva. She is 15 years old and a student in the ninth grade at the English High School in Ruse. She won a full scholarship to attend Space Camp Turkey in Izmir, Turkey – one of only two space training centers in the world modeled after NASA. Ilieva took part in the presentation of “LIK” magazine, dedicated to the Cosmos.
“I decided to participate in this camp as it has been a dream of mine since I was very young,” she noted. Ilieva emphasized that she wants to help with discoveries, as well as with sample collection.
“Bulgaria’s traces in space research are many, not one. These are the flights of the two cosmonauts, the instruments and the scientific missions. This program is related to the flight of Alexander Alexandrov in 1988, said Prof. Dr. Eng. Georgi Zhelev, who is the director of the Institute for Space Research and Technology in Ruse. According to him, the Bulgarian equipment, which is currently around Mars, in orbit around Mars, provides information about the radiation background, about the amount of radiation that a future cosmonaut would receive in orbit around the planet.
