The European day to fight obesity was celebrated in Montana. The initiative is of the Regional Health Inspectorate and the Youth Home and is aimed at children and students from the city. A lecture focused on the topic of proper and healthy nutrition for students from 7 to 19 years of age was delivered by Daniela Bozhinova, who is the chief expert in the health inspection.

“Especially for this target group – from 7 to 19 years old, the rules are: consume a variety of food, spend enough time eating in a calm and pleasant atmosphere, do not miss the morning breakfast, consume cereals that are a source of energy, consume fruits and vegetables if possible at every meal, consume milk and milk products, choose lean meats, replace meat with fish and legumes…”

Daniela Bojinova reported on good practice being established in schools.

“It is a good practice in schools, especially in elementary school, literally the whole class has an organization in terms of nutrition, except for the canteen. The idea is to bring home-cooked food to school, in accordance with the recommendations for healthy eating. This is a very good practice , which is imposed in schools.”

Various sports games were organized on the occasion of the European Day to Fight Overweight. The aim was to stimulate the physical activity of the participants. There was also music and dancing.
