Students from the Trade High School won prizes in a national entrepreneurship competition

Students from the Commercial High School won a prize in the National Entrepreneurship Competition “Best Business Idea”. This was reported to Aktualno Svishtov by the press center of the Municipality.

The final stage of the National Entrepreneurship Competition “Best Business Idea”, which was hosted by PDTG “Dimitar Hadjivasilev”, took place from April 17 to 19, 2024. The goals of the prestigious competition are to strengthen the motivation for full learning of the educational content, based on interdisciplinary connections in the direction of entrepreneurship; to stimulate innovation, creativity and teamwork; to encourage the development of entrepreneurial culture and thinking, to give the opportunity for creative expression of acquired knowledge, skills and competences in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship.

According to the regulation, from a total of 57 business ideas, after the preliminary qualification, 24 students and 3 reserves were admitted to the national round of the competition. The renovated high school building welcomed participants from all over Bulgaria – Petrich, Sandanski, Burgas, Varna, Vidin, Silistra, Sofia and many other nearby and distant cities. The participants were randomly divided into teams and generated business ideas based on the assigned case study on the topic: “Traditional Bulgarian products – heritage and innovations”.

The business idea, “Bing. Handles for supports” by Violeta Nenkova, a 12th grade student of the Commercial High School and her team – Paolina Koleva, Mark Kyurkchiev and Simge Redzeb, was ranked second. The student’s supervisor is Diana Ilieva-Atanasova.

For their excellent performance, all students and their leaders received certificates from the Ministry of Education and Science. The three prize-winning participants in the competition were awarded with medals for the individual and cups for the school ranking, certificates, subject prizes from the Municipality of Svishtov – a partner of the host school, as well as with a certificate recognizing the Excellent 6.00 grade for the result of a competition exam at UNSS for the specialty “Entrepreneurship”.

The organizer of the competition is the Ministry of Education and Science and the Regional Department of Education – Veliko Tarnovo, with the cooperation and support of the Department of Entrepreneurship of the UNSS. Jury in composition: chap. assistant professor Dr. Silvia Georgieva UNSS – chairman; and members: Yulia Velichkova – senior expert vocational education and training RUO Veliko Tarnovo, Rumyana Kuzeva – head of the “Education and youth policies” department Svishtov municipality, Plamen Petrov – director of “Production activity” of “Svilotsel” EAD, Slavina Nikolova – PhD student UNSS, evaluate the business ideas and determine the winners among the teams of students.
