For another year, Silistra joins the national initiative of the Bulgarian Choral Union “Bulgaria sings”, announced the municipality. On April 24, a concert will take place in the hall of the Drama Theater “Sava Dobroplodni” with the participation of the mixed choir “Sedyanka” and the mixed choir “Dobrich”.
The event will also mark the 30th birthday of the Old City Songs Group “Golden Autumn” from Silistra, which will also be included in the concert. Their guests – Ballet “Lidens” and vocal group “White, Green, Red” will also take the stage.
Choral singing has rich traditions in Silistra. The city hosts the traditional Assembly of Choirs from the Danube Countries. The first edition of the event took place in 1910. A memorial sign in the city’s Danube Park – the only monument to the song in the country – reminds of this event.
So far, the assembly has been held 13 times, and its last edition was last year. More than 200 choristers from Bulgaria and Romania participated in the event.
“Bulgaria sings” is an initiative that unites choirs and singing groups from the country to present the beauty, richness and color of vocal mastery in our country. It was held for the first time in 2016 throughout the country with the support of municipalities, community centers, choirs, conductors and choristers.
