The dismantling of the monument to the Soviet army continues, the regional governor of Sofia Vyara Todeva took new steps to remove the monument from the Prince’s Garden.

The Regional Administration announced that they have started actions to remove the displaced and compromised facing plates with the inscription from the monument, as well as the conservation of the pedestal.

“The actions are in connection with the implementation of an effective Order of the Chief Architect of the Metropolitan Municipality, issued after an examination of the condition of the monument “Monument to the Soviet Army”, located in the “Knyazheska gradina” and in connection with the determinations of the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC ) to invalidate, due to lack of legal interest, the two orders of the Administrative Court of Sofia-city (ASSG), with which it was ordered to unconditionally stop the actions on the dismantling of the monument “Monument to the Soviet Army”, the administration’s announcement reads.

At the beginning of April, the Supreme Administrative Court overturned an order of the Administrative Court in Sofia, by which, following a complaint by the “Stand up.BG” association, it was ordered to stop the dismantling. There was a similar complaint from “Vazrazhdane”.
