The District Prosecutor’s Office in Yambol charged Mr. Valev, better known as Dinko from Yambol, with being the head of an organized criminal group for coercion, threats to life and financial damages.
Two other men have also been brought to criminal responsibility. The group operated from October 2021 until April 16 this year.
During the investigation, it was found that the members of the group forced and attempted to force various individuals to perform actions against their will. For this purpose, threats to the life, health and property of the victims were used, as a result of which one of the victims suffered financial damage, and in relation to another victim, the act remained unfinished – crimes under Art. 214, para. 2, t .2 and item 3, cf. art. 213a, paragraph 2, item 3 and item 4, cf. art. 26, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
The district prosecutor’s office in Yambol told bTV that the victims were Bulgarian and foreign citizens who had an accident on the road and were asked for sums that were many times larger than the real ones.
According to unofficial information, we are talking about circulation workers who used the repatriation service that Valev has been offering for several years.
At the moment, Mr. Valev is admitted to the “Heart and Brain” hospital in Burgas. The health facility does not provide official information, but according to “24 Chasa” sources, he is in the cardiology department because of a blood clot. He will be charged after his health condition improves.
Over the years, Valev, who became known as the “refugee hunter”, was repeatedly involved in criminal cases. Now he faces up to 15 years in prison.
