Data on the spread of whooping cough in our country will be presented to the parliamentary Committee on Health at an extraordinary meeting. The MPs will listen to the line minister, the chief state health inspector, the directors of the Medical Supervision Agency and the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases.

Since the beginning of the year, the registered cases of the disease are over 280, compared to only 4 for the whole of last year.

20 cases of patients with whooping cough have been identified since the beginning of March so far in Varna. In Burgas, since the beginning of the year, there are 10 diagnosed patients with whooping cough. There are no registered cases in the Dobrich region.

Doctors have called for a task force to be formed to discuss pertussis vaccination in pregnant women. The introduction of mandatory reimmunization for adults is also proposed.
