A 104-year-old woman was tied by the limbs while she was being treated at “St. Petka” hospital in Vidin. This is claimed by her relatives, who were not allowed to see her during her stay in the medical facility.
After the woman was discharged, her relatives saw bruises on her body. The patient was admitted to the internal medicine department on April 17.
The victim’s grandson, Emil Trifonov, said that the woman was left at the hospital without an escort. Her relatives only received information about her condition, as there were no sightings.
“After she was discharged she had lost weight, we saw that there were bruises behind her wrists and on her legs. When my mother arrived at the hospital upon discharge, she saw that one of her hands was tied,” said Trifonov. He added that the woman had complained about her stay at the medical facility.
Dr. Bogdan Tomov -, deputy director of the medical facility, explained that the patient was psychomotorically excited at times during the treatment.
“Temporary physical restraint measures have been put in place to allow treatment to take place. This has been done temporarily,” he said. According to him, the skin changes, which are said to be due to the fact that the woman was tied, do not correspond to the localization of the places that were the subject of treatment.
“Most likely, this is due to skin and trophic changes associated with severe accompanying diseases. The patient was treated according to medical standards and the accusations are unfounded,” Tomov said.
