“Literature meets images” is the motto of the 22nd “Reading People’s Marathon” in the Varna Library

--

The Varna Regional Library “Pencho Slaveikov” for the 22nd time initiated the “Reading People Marathon” on World Book and Copyright Day – April 23. This year’s celebration is under the motto “Literature meets images” and seeks the connections between the spaces of imagination that the literary text constructs and the interpretations of cinema and theater that shape the physical environment.
An open discussion will be devoted to the topic this evening, in which the writer and theater director Petar Denchev, the artist and scenographer Temenuga Stancheva and the cultural teacher Ognyan Kovachev will take part. The conversation will be about the adaptations of literary works for the stage and the big screen and the means of expression in the various arts.
There will be marathon readings in all departments of the library. Among the highlights is the celebration of the 215th anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe’s birth in the American Reading Room with students from the Professional High School for Computer Modeling and Computer Systems “Acad. Blagovest Sendov” and from the First Language High School in Varna.
In the Children’s and Secondary School Department, “The Tale of the Library” will be premiered with the participation of children from the “Konstantin Preslavski” Secondary School for Humanities and Arts. The “Regional History” Department will share with the readers interesting materials from the old Varna newspapers.
