The “Green Zone” in Burgas becomes year-round. This was decided by the local parliament after it adopted the report for a change in the Ordinance regulating paid parking. As “Black Sea Lighthouse” wrote, the administration proposed this measure after receiving many signatures from people living within the area who wanted it to become year-round.

Thus, in practice, until May 1, paid parking in “Lazur” becomes a “blue zone”, since it will work with the same working hours as it. In the period from May 1 to September 30, her previous working hours remain, namely 7 days from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The report also adopted the consolidation of the sub-zones in which it is possible to park by the people entitled by address, and they become fewer, but larger in scope.

There was also a short debate in the hall. The chairperson of the Transport Commission, Evelina Mihaleva, began by saying that it was the people living in the “green zone” who wished for her year-round work, as they could not find parking spaces outside the summer season.

Zhivko Tabakov pointed out that their group will support the report, but it is good to think about the citizens of Burgas who do not live there, but want to get to the Sea Garden, because with this report only those living in the “green zone” are helped.

Here Mihaleva answered him that it was because of Burgaz residents that it was decided that the working hours would start at 11:00 a.m. in the summer.

Ivan Ivanov stated that he voted “abstain” in committees, but in the hall he will support the report, since the people living there have such a desire.

“However, we must seriously work on building parking lots. I know that the municipality does such things. Otherwise, we will only be charging people to park their cars without being able to find spaces,” he added.

“I support the construction of more parking lots, but we also need to change our vision and thinking a bit.” We always want to stop where we are going instead of walking a little further. And last but not least, we should note that Burgas has the best public transport, which should be used more often”, Mihaleva commented.
