Meglena Plugchieva, who was appointed as an adviser to acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, has resigned. She served as foreign policy adviser to the acting prime minister, who on Monday also became foreign minister.

This is confirmed for BNT by the Council of Ministers. At the moment, the reasons for her departure have not been announced, andAmata Plugchieva was not available for comment.

Probably, Plugchieva’s departure is due to the cases in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs related to the appointment of the acting prime minister and foreign minister.

Glavchev and Plugchieva have argued several times about who should become foreign minister, after the prime minister decided after less than a week in office to remove the initially appointed diplomat Stefan Dimitrov. The first proposal of the caretaker prime minister was to give the post to the deputy chairman of GERB, Daniel Mitov, but he himself refused the nomination after the sharp reaction from President Radev.

A diplomat should be placed at the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a caretaker government, Plugchieva insisted until the end, but Glavchev did not comply with her opinion.

According to bTV, she herself refused to become Minister of Foreign Affairs, because despite her three terms as ambassador of Bulgaria, she was always from the political quota and could not be treated as a career diplomat.

Meanwhile, President Rumen Radev’s decree No. 119 on the changes in the official cabinet was published in the “State Gazette” today.

By decree, the president appointed Dimitar Glavchev and Georgi Takhov as official ministers

On Monday, the head of state issued a decree and appointed acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev as acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Georgi Takhov as acting Minister of Agriculture. With the decree, Stefan Dimitrov and Kiril Vatev are released from the positions of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Agriculture, respectively.
