The Municipal Council in Burgas accepted that the Green Zone for paid parking in the city will now work all year round. This was done by a full majority of 47 votes in favour.
The reasons for the change are related to the increased traffic and concentration of motor vehicles around the Sea Garden and Lazur village.
Until now, the operation of the regime of paid parking in a green zone covers only the months from May to October.
However, this mode of operation proved insufficient to satisfy the need for parking control for the area. This necessitated the introduction of a change in the parking rules, in the direction of increasing its scope within all working days from Monday to Friday, including from October to May.
It was decided that the regulation of parking in the green zone will also cover the winter season in the same time range as that of the blue zone – on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and for the effectiveness of the regulation, the boundaries of the zones in the existing their scope.
The other amendments are related to clarification of texts and cancellation of inapplicable norms. The additional provisions are supplemented by defining the terms “blue zone” and “green zone” for the sake of precision.
The introduction of year-round regulation of parking in the designated green zone leads to a change in the value of the annual prices for the local parking service according to Art. 13 of the Ordinance, for the first and second car.
For the first car, the value of 25 becomes 60 BGN, according to the months for which the zone applies. For a second car, it changes from 50 to 120 BGN.
“The residents of Lazur have been waiting for this report for a very long time. For a very long time, they sent us letters asking us to make the year-round green zone. People there complained that they couldn’t get to their homes in the winter, and in the summer with the paid parking in the green zone, parking is much easier. The green zone will operate in two parts – summer and winter. In the summer it will function as it has until now – from 11 am to 8 pm all week And the winter will cover the period between October and May and will work in a similar way to the Blue Zone – from 9 am to 7 pm 5 days during the week” said municipal councilor from GERB Evelina Mihaleva.
