At the moment, the situation regarding the incidence of whooping cough in the territory of Kyustendil municipality is calm, there are no new cases. This was said by the mayor of Kyustendil Municipality, Eng. Ognyan Atanasov. In the district, the number of patients is below the national average.
A campaign has already started in the Roma quarter of Kyustendil. It includes the person responsible for ethnic issues, health mediators and doctors who have expressed a desire. The goal is to vaccinate children.
The Directorate of “Supervision of Communicable Diseases” at the Regional Health Inspectorate – Kyustendil reminded that all who are not vaccinated against whooping cough or are incompletely vaccinated are at risk of disease.
The surest way to protect against whooping cough is full immunization. Immunizations and re-immunizations against the disease are mandatory and are carried out with various combined vaccines and against other diseases, depending on the age of the child.
According to the Immunization Calendar of the Republic of Bulgaria, immunizations are administered from the first year after birth, re-immunizations in the second year, in the year in which children turn 6 and in the year in which they turn 12.
