An interim conference under project No. BGLD-2.001-0009 “Opportunity for young people to express themselves – creation of a youth center in Gabrovo” was held on April 22, 2024. It was attended by Tanya Hristova – Mayor of Gabrovo Municipality, Ivan Lyubomirov – Deputy. regional governor, associate professor Dr. Eng. Hristo Nedev – deputy. rector of the Technical University – Gabrovo, representatives of other youth centers from the country, cultural institutions in the city, schools, educational organizations, partners in the holding of various events, project contractors, media.
The project is financed through the FM of the EEA 2014-2021 under the program “Local development, poverty reduction and improved inclusion of vulnerable groups”, with the amount of the grant being 4,286,850 BGN, and the own contribution of the Municipality of Gabrovo – 2 BGN 267,129. It lasts from 20.10.2020 to 31.08.2024. Partners in its implementation are the Technical University – Gabrovo and the University for Green Development in the city of Brune, Norway.
The project management team presented to the attendees all stages of its implementation – public procurements, contracts signed, activities completed. Special attention was paid to the joint initiatives with the Norwegian partner – visits, training and sharing of good practices with the project team, the Youth Center and young people from Gabrovo.
The team of the Youth Center – Gabrovo and initiatives of the Center were presented, which aim to develop the capacity of young people, to encourage their participation in decision-making for the city and their community, leadership, professional orientation, volunteering and media literacy. Organized events and initiatives in the fields of culture, sports, ecology, creativity, healthy lifestyle and mental health were also presented. The event was accompanied by an exhibition with projects of the young people from various workshops – drawings, photographs, clay masks, birdhouses, luminous figures.
An invitation was sent to the next event organized by the young people – “Festival of Flowers”, which will be held on April 27, 2024 in the Park “Markoteya” in Gabrovo.
