Over 400 children from schools in Razgrad will paint Easter eggs in a workshop of the Ethnographic Museum

--

A children’s workshop for painting Easter eggs opened in the Ethnographic Museum in Razgrad. Until the end of the week, museum specialist Hristo Hristov and tour guide Polina Nedelcheva will welcome students from first to fourth grade from all primary schools in the city. With their help and under the guidance of their teachers, the children will learn various spelling techniques characteristic of the Razgrad area.
“The idea is to tell and present to the children the folk customs before and on Easter itself, to show them and together to paint the eggs with techniques characteristic of the traps and the Razgrad area,” Hristov told BTA.
One of the participants in the workshop were first graders from Ivan S. Turgenev Primary School and second graders from Hristo Botev Secondary School. Each of the students turned out to be a real master in painting and writing eggs. The boys and girls shared that they have already helped their parents at home in preparing for this bright holiday and know that the first egg must be dyed red.
Before showing off their egg-painting skills, the children explored the ethnographic collection in the house and learned about the traditions associated with Easter. The students learned how the grandmothers used to dye the eggs mainly with vegetable dyes obtained from herbs and with the help of additional animal materials. They also looked at the different versions of Easter eggs presented in the museum and the festive pita, called egg roll or chupnik. In the spirit of the upcoming holidays, the children sang the song “Lalentse se lyulee”.
