On the International Book and Copyright Day, the “Dora Gabe” Regional Library honored 17-year-old Englishwoman Bobbi Jay Maul with a special diploma. In her free time, she volunteers at the library and helps the librarians.

My love for books and the people who work in the library are my motivation to be a volunteer, Bobby told Dobrudzha media group. The book is a portal to other worlds and can take us to another century or to another planet, she said.

Bobbi is a graduate of the Vocational High School of Tourism in Dobrich and plans to apply to the librarianship institute in order to return to work at the RB “Dora Gabe”.

She was born in England, but from the age of 4 she lived permanently in Bulgaria – first in Novi Pazar and Yambol, and in recent years in the village of Senokos. Bulgarian is my native language and English is my mother tongue, so I read books in both languages, she explained.

Her favorite authors are Kafka and Dostoyevsky. He likes to read the classics in world literature, as well as in Bulgarian – for example “Under the Yoke” and “The Iron Lighthouse”.

I love Bulgaria, I feel it is my homeland and I will apply for Bulgarian citizenship, said Bobby.
