The Plovdiv District Court released Ivan Raychinov, known as the Captain, without any measure of remand. The prosecutor’s office asked the magistrates for the permanent detention of the man who was caught driving with more than 3 parts per million of alcohol on Knyaginya Maria Luiza Blvd., but judge Dimitar Katsarev decided that this was not necessary.

According to Raichinov’s lawyer Orlin Tarnovaliiski, a woman complained that she was hit by the drunk driver. “She visited a hospital and nothing was found then. Everything else is speculation, criminal law does not work with such,” said the defender. Raichinov is not charged with a traffic accident, but only with driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol. “He did not give an explanation in this regard, but he admitted his guilt,” comments Tarnovaliiski.

“This woman who was hit, a medical intervention was performed yesterday. However, at the moment we do not have a forensic medical examination prepared, on the basis of which to establish the mechanism of receipt, the type of trauma, and there is no way to bring charges against him for this. There is currently no such assumption,” explained prosecutor Elena Bogdanova. She pointed out that an investigation is yet to be carried out, as the woman is undergoing surgery.
