The consequences of contracting whooping cough were explained in the Roma quarter in Kyustendil

A health lecture, part of an information campaign dedicated to the prevention and fight against the pertussis disease, was held in the Roma quarter “Iztok” in Kyustendil. The meeting took place at the insistence of the residents of the neighborhood.During the health talk organized by the Roma activist Stefan Lazarov, the local residents wanted to get clarity on how to protect themselves from the contagious disease and how vaccination will be organized in the neighborhood. In the hall of the community center in the “Iztok” quarter, Dr. Iliyana Krasteva, head of the epidemiological department at the RZI, explained the problem with the registered cases of whooping cough.“Many interested people came, the hall was full. We distributed information brochures to everyone. I urge parents, immunize your children, because this is very important for their future, said Lazarov.Since the beginning of the year, cases of whooping cough have been registered in Kyustendil region in four of the 9 municipalities – Kyustendil, Dupnitsa, Bobov dol and Trekliano.
