Over 1,500 speed limit violations were recorded in the Targovishte region for a week. This was announced by the spokesperson of the regional directorate (OD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ani Krasteva, after the conclusion of the “Speed” action, held for the period April 15-21 in all member countries of the European network of “Traffic Police” services.
The police officers carried out active control for violations related to exceeding the maximum permissible speed of traffic. According to statistics, speeding violations are the most serious cause of serious traffic accidents and road deaths in Europe, the directorate added.
On the territory of the district, the police teams used all available technical means to control the speed – both in the light and in the dark part of the day. A total of 1,578 violations of the speed regimes were found on the roads and streets in Targovishte district. Of these, 995 were registered in populated areas, and 583 – outside populated areas.
Within the action on April 19, SPEED Marathon was held – a 24-hour speed control marathon. For the time from 00:00 to 23:59 at 15 control points, a total of 538 violations of speed regimes by drivers were found. The largest number of them are established with the so-called laser tripod – 390.
Electronic slips will be issued and delivered to the relevant drivers for the detected violations.
As BTA reported, a total of 15 serious accidents were registered in our country in the last 24 hours, one person died. During the same action in Sofia, more than 15,000 speed limit violations were recorded.
