Above 500 participants from all over the country come to Burgas for the biggest geographical event in our country – the ninth edition of Bulgarian Geographical Festival, announced by the Municipality.
The event will be held on April 27 and 28 at the International Congress Center, Commercial High School, Peyo K. Yavorov Regional Library and the Sea Garden.
The program of the Bulgarian Geographical Festival will include interesting exhibitions, competitions for schoolchildren, students and teachers, popular science presentations by prominent personalities – among the confirmed guests for 2024 are Georgi Burdarov, Simeon Idakiev and others, interactive and practical competitions, geography quiz for students, thematic stands, geographical surprises and others.

Participants in the festival will be students, teachers, students, scientists and geography lovers. Before the start of the geography festival on April 26, the Library will host several events dedicated to geography.
Visitors will be able to visit a cinema in the evening with documentary films by journalist and traveler Zhivko Konstantinov about Antarctica from 6:30 p.m., and from 7:00 p.m. there will be the opening of an exhibition and presentation of a book about Mount Athos – Mount Athos.
On the first day of the Bulgarian Geographical Festival – April 27, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., there will be three thematic geographical presentations of scientists from the Faculty of Geology and Geography of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” – “If someone says it’s impossible” by Assoc. Dr. Georgi Burdarov, “Data-based cartography” by Assoc. Dr. Evgenia Sarafova and “The New Geography” by Assoc. Dr. Dimitar Jelev.
All three presentations will be in the Black Sea Hall at the International Congress Center. It will start at 15:40 the team competition “Geography” at the Commercial High School, and at 5:30 p.m. the Student Festival Quiz will be held in the Congress Center.
On Sunday – April 28, from 11:00 a.m., geographical presentations by scientists and travelers will take place in the Congress Center, such as Svilen Rusanov, Christian Kirilov and Lyubomir Popyordanov.
At 12:30 p.m. is the final of the team student competition “Geographiad”, and at 1:30 p.m. the award ceremony and closing of the festival will begin. The event is organized by Geograf BG, SU “St. Kliment Ohridski” – Faculty of Geology and Geography and Branch of SU in Burgas, Municipality of Burgas and Bulgarian Geographical Society.
The 2024 festival is dedicated to The 100th anniversary of the creation of the “Geography” major at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.
