A resident of Plovdiv, who suffered a serious accident, found solace in painting VIDEO

--

A magnificent boutique exhibition with oil and acrylic paints of 10 paintings was presented by the Plovdiv artist Asen Asenov in the lobby of the Auditorium complex of MU-Plovdiv on the afternoon of April 23, writes glasnews.bg.

The thorny path of life that led him to the discovery – his talent for painting did not break his spirit. Art for him is clearly a source of balance of emotions, hope and faith. At the age of 36, he was hit by a car traveling at 100 km/h.

Asen Asenov shares about his choice to paint:

“In many places around the world, they use painting as therapy – it calms the spirit, it brings a lot of positivity into the life of a person who has suffered an accident. I have been painting for about two years. My opportunity to go out into nature is extremely limited, so I I download pictures from the Internet – I look at the picture and that’s how I paint. Many things are not as I saw them in the picture – there must be energy, it must be something positive, I always look for the positive”.

The initiator of the charity exhibition at MU – Plovdiv is Prof. Mariana Murdjeva (Rector of MU-Plovdiv in the term 2019-2013), and the main organizer – the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine – Prof. Mariela Geneva-Popova. Prof. Geneva expressed his impressions of the trials the artist went through and the strength he carries:

“What we are actually doing is to give him the opportunity to be able to paint, to be able to be in good condition with his family, with his work, with society. So – let us on the eve of Easter be a little more good, a little more human, a little more concerned about the neighbor. I wish everyone a happy and bright Easter holidays and may the good be with us!”

We talk to Prof. Marianna Murdjeva about the idea behind the creation of this exhibition:

“The idea came from another exhibition of Asen Asenov more than a month ago, when I was struck by his fate, his talent as an artist and the indomitability of his spirit. Every university is called not only to educate, to develop research activities, but also to educate in empathy, engagement in social and charitable activities. Today, this exhibition is a celebration of the spirit, a celebration of the strong will to make sense of life.”

The exhibition will be available to those interested until May 7 at the MU-Plovdiv.
