N he ambassador of Spain Miguel Alonso appeared in one of his first public appearances in our country on Tuesday, taking part in the traditional continuous reading in Spanish on the occasion of Book Day – April 23.

The event is organized every year by the Cervantes Institute in Sofia, and “Telegraph” received a special invitation to participate from its director Maria Luisa Santos. International editor Mihailina Dimitrova read an excerpt from Gabriel García Márquez.

April 23 is the Day of the Book in Spanish, which is celebrated all over the world in the same way – with continuous readings by authors who worked in the language of Cervantes.

In Sofia, the event began with the participation of colleagues from the Association of Spanish-speaking Journalists in Bulgaria and the interim manager of the Argentine embassy, Daniel Cotini.

After the inclusion of the Telegraph, the program continued with a reading by the Spanish Embassy team led by Ambassador Alonso.

The afternoon was dedicated to the excerpts chosen by students from several schools, part of the chain of dozens of schools in Bulgaria where Spanish is taught.
