I am happy that to this day my father’s memory is honored and he is not forgotten, said the daughter of Prof. Konstantin Iliev Maria Prinz in a video address at the opening of the Chamber Music Week in Dobrich.
She thanked the organizers for dedicating Chamber Music Week to her father. “He found refuge, human warmth and understanding in the city of Dobrich a long time ago,” she added.
Maria Prinz wished the participants inspiration, the audience – joy and great pleasure from meetings with classical music, and Maria Prinz wished the organizers success and satisfaction with their work.
“Long live the wonderful city of Dobrich, the Week of Chamber Music and the work of Konstantin Iliev,” concluded his daughter.
The audience and the participants in the Chamber Music Week were also welcomed by the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Dobrich, Stanka Nikolova. She wished everyone that everything they experienced would be wonderful. “I am proud that on our stage, in this renovated hall, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Professor Iliev’s birth in a dignified way and with concerts at a very high level,” said Nikolova.
The chamber music week began with a concert by the Bulgarian Chamber Orchestra – Dobrich with conductor Maestro Arto Chifchiyan and guest soloists Yanko Marinov – organ and Zornitsa Spiridonova – timpani.
The audience in the “Dobrich” hall heard excerpts from “Divertimento” by the composer Pancho Vladigerov, which were dedicated to the 125th anniversary of his birth.
String Quartet No. 1, first movement by Prof. Konstantin Iliev, was also performed in the hall.
Yanko Marinov and Zornitsa Spiridonova together with BKO performed Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for organ, timpani and string orchestra. This performance was also dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
Two works by Aram Khachaturian were also performed on the stage. The audience enjoyed “Adagio” from the ballet “Spartacus” and “Dance with Sabers” from the ballet “Gaiane”.
Today is the second night of Chamber Music Week. Prof. Georgita Boyadzhieva-Nikolova – cello, Dr. Rosen Idealov – clarinet, and Vladimir Valchev – piano will perform as a trio. They are solo and chamber performers in various ensembles and for the first time they will perform as a trio in this ensemble in Dobrich.
The program includes works by Prof. Konstantin Iliev, Mikhail Glinka, Balash Sunyog and Johannes Brahms.
