Fulfillment. From being a student at “Zahari Stoyanov” Evening Secondary School – Burgas – Detelina returns there as a teacher

Burgas Evening Secondary School “Zahari Stoyanov” is an extraordinary school. It is where destinies change. In support of the statement, we will tell the story of Detelina. Her life was marked by night school and now she enjoys her successes together with her family.

“My name is Detelina Ivanova Zlateva by husband and Bedrosova by father. When I was 12 years old, my parents divorced and my mother and I were left alone. It was very difficult for us on one salary, so I had to work. I stopped going to school and started working so we could support ourselves.

In myself, I did not want to accept this situation – I had dreams, I had ambitions and I had to study.

I don’t remember how I found out about the Evening Gymnasium (now VSU), but I immediately enrolled to study there, despite the missed time.

I started in the eighth grade, I continued to go to work, but I tried to go to school as well. My time at the Evening High School was for me even more motivation to continue developing.

People think that if you study there, you are simply ignorant, incapable, without a future… Rest assured, this is not the case! I am a living example of that.

When I was in the tenth grade, I asked my father for support if I decided to study at university. Of course, he agreed, but under certain conditions – that I study in the city and that it be a regular form of education. My teachers at that time were also very supportive. By the way, not only me, but also all the students who intended to study after that.

We were not at all small then – about 25 people in a class of all ages. I completed the eleventh grade successfully. I passed my matriculation exam in Bulgarian with a good result, I applied immediately and was accepted. I enrolled at the Burgas Free University, majoring in Bulgarian philology with an additional qualification as a teacher of BEL and graduated successfully.

After that, I enrolled in the Master of Public Administration at the Faculty of Law and also graduated successfully. So after the four years at the Evening High School, there followed another eight years at the university.

I’m not ashamed to say where I studied, on the contrary, I’m proud to have graduated from this school.

At this moment: I am now 44 years old, I work as a BEL teacher in this same Evening High School – now Evening Secondary School together with two of my teachers from that time – Mrs. Staneva and Mr. Perperiev. At our first meeting after being so fit, they did not remember me, because we, as I have already said, were many students – each with his own destiny. But I remember them.

I thank all the teachers of that time, also my parents, for supporting me to successfully complete everything I undertook at that time in my life.

Evening High School is like any other and no one should be ashamed of it, but should be proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of this extraordinary institution.

Folks, if you couldn’t study when you were supposed to, due to some circumstances, it doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to do it now – as long as you have the desire, right at VSU “Zahari Stoyanov” – Burgas.

“Zahari Stoyanov” evening high school in Burgas has a rich – 75-year history. The form of training it offers makes it indispensable for the entire field. Firstly, because it is the only educational institution of its kind, and secondly, because it gives all working people, who have realized the importance of secondary education, the opportunity to enter the labor market.

The story told above is hardly the only fate turned upside down by such an unusual, for most people, school. But Clover’s is real, touching, giving hope in a difficult time. Will, desire, persistence can find their home in such an educational institution. And it itself – its place among the other schools in the city and the region. Because everyone has the right to a chance – whether it will be second – it doesn’t matter. Dreams that come true are important.
